Production

KLOTZ a.i.s. manufactures its products in Germany, applying outstanding cost-efficiency to generate competitive edge. Our stocking strategy guarantees rapid availability, with over 2.2 million metres of cables - including over 300,000 metres of audio multicore - accessible at all times. Production operations for KLOTZ Cables make use of efficient manufacturing methods with a park of modern high-performance production machinery and computerized process control systems. Our expertise is the key to our success. All products, without exception, are designed and developed in-house, and many are patented.

For this reason, we prioritize research & development (R & D). Our engineers in this sector are outstanding specialists in electronics and electrical engineering, and are familiar with the applications and environments in which our cables are used – enabling these important considerations to be integrated into our products from the design stage.

Innovative applications (e.g. in multimedia technology), statutory provisions and new safety regulations for public buildings often require the use of new materials. As digitalization becomes increasingly widespread in AV technology, the technology imposes new requirements such as high-precision and consistent wave impedance (110 ohms for digital audio, 75 ohms for video) of the transmission medium together with extremely low tolerances and low dielectric losses in the insulation materials.

KLOTZ Cables' ability to meet these requirements is due largely to the company's in-house research and development operations. The R&D division is far from being an ivory tower, but is in constant daily dialogue with the Product Management and Sales forces – a practical real-life approach.

Although hardly a mystery, the manufacturing process from raw materials to finished cables is certainly an amazing one. We show you here how our cables are made. Perhaps the extensive number of individual manufacturing steps and the meticulous quality assurance efforts will surprise you – but they are all part of the outstanding reputation that our products have earned.

From copper wire to finished cable

We use high-quality raw materials in the production of our cables – specifically, electrolytic copper with a purity of 99.95%. Our state-of-the-art production machinery also enables us to use highly efficient manufacturing methods that comply with our own rigorous quality and performance standards. We prioritize active environmental awareness both in our production methods and in the use of raw materials.

Soldering and crimping

Single-pair audio wires are generally made up with solderable connectors. Our solder stations are in line with state-of-the-art ergonomic standards, from lighting to vapour extraction systems. Multi-pair audio multicores are produced both with solderable connectors and crimped with multipin connectors. A variety of crimping machinery is used depending on the connector type, all guaranteeing safe, secure and long-life contacts. Coaxial cables are soldered or crimped depending on the connector type.
