Waldo Madera has a deep understanding of music that’s evident to everybody he works with. And no wonder – he studied at the Manhattan School of Music, an elite training-ground for so many of the finest names in the music biz.
As a drummer, Madera has played with a host of jazz greats, including Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Giovanni Hidalgo, Sheila Escovedo, Cachao, Tom Scott, Anthony Jackson, Wynton Marsalis, Scott Henderson – to name but a few!
His work with these stars has taken him to the biggest and best-known jazz festivals in the USA, Canada, Central America and Europe.
But his talent is not only in demand among jazz musicians; he is also sought after by stars of the Latin music scene, and has played live and in the studio with Ricky Martin, Juanes, Santana, José Feliciano, Ricardo Arjona, Miguel Bosé and more.
In addition to the stresses and strains of touring and studio work, Waldo Madera is a composer and producer for a string of Latin artists. His work can be heard on over 200 albums including those of 21-times Grammy winner Juanes, his current collaborator.
Madera chose Mexico City as his home in line with his Hispanic roots. Fluent in English and Spanish, he can easily hold his drum clinics in intercultural settings.
And incidentally, he’s a pretty good bassist and guitarist too!
