At Klotz, production of the cables exclusively
designed by our Research and Development Department utilizes efficiency-oriented
methods and an array of high-performance production equipment, ensuring
that all products meet Klotz' strict standards of quality and performance
from the onset of production. The transformation from raw materials
to finished cables may not be a mysterious process, but it is always
a fascinating one. Let us take you through the various production
stages, and perhaps reveal some surprises along the way - for instance,
the time and effort we spend on quality assurance, a key factor
in creating our cables' outstanding reputation.
Wire production starts with continuous
cast and rolled wire coils ( Fig. 1 ), 8 mm in diameter and made
of high-purity (over 99.95% pure) electrolyte copper. First the
copper is drawn to 1.8 mm diameter in a thick wire drawing bench
and - as shown in Fig. 2 - temporarily stored in vast steel drums.
Then the wire passes through a second copper drawing plant (Fig.
3) and is drawn further to the desired final diameter of 0.10 mm
- 0.30 mm. Recrystallization and bright annealing processes are
applied to achieve the necessary mechanical and electrical properties
for further processing. continue
