Environment
Environmental issues as well as sustainability are also playing an increasing role in electro-technology. While Japan is in the forefront with regard to avoidance of environmetally harmful materials (particulary heavy metals) in production, efforts are being made in this direction at European and global level. In addition, the European Union has already responded to the issue.
The European Parliament and the European Council adopted in January 2003 the ‚Directive 2002/95/EG on the restricition of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment‘, that became national law in Germany March 2005. The directive is also known as the RoHS guideline (Restriction of Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment).
The objective of the directive is to minimize risks to people and environment by reducing the pollutants generated in the production, use and disposal of electrical and electronic products.
Since July, the first 2006, the use of lead and other metals (Hg, Cd, Cr(VI)), flame retardants PBB (polybrominated biphenyls) and PBDE (polybrominated diphenyl ethers) is prohibited in electrical and electronic products such as house hold applicances, IT & telecommunication equipment and consumer electronic devices.
All KLOTZ a.i.s. bulk cables are manufactured in compliance with the RoHS directive since 2004.
Premade cables are soldered lead free since 1. January 2006, unless they are crimped. The connectors are as per confirmation of our suppliers manufactured in compliance with the RoHS directive.
